About the Project

There are few names in Hollywood more ubiquitous than John Williams. Even if you’re unfamiliar with his name, you certainly know his work from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, or any other large blockbuster in the past fifty years. He is, in short, iconic.

What fewer people know, however, is that he has written an expansive library of concertos that are regularly performed around the world. Up until now, there has been no straightforward way for would-be performers to access the sheet music.

When we started thinking through the visuals for the first draft of the site, we were challenged by how to navigate John’s iconic image. With him being the template for so many musicians, how could we avoid self-referentialism or cliché?
